ABOUT ME

I received a master’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 1989. The State of Michigan licenses me and I am certified
by the National Association of Social Workers. My education has been continued by attending numerous counseling and medically focused conferences and seminars. I am a member of the Eating Disorders Professional League of Michigan.

For over twenty years I have counseled individuals who choose to
confront their eating disorder. The therapeutic approach used is
designed to build on a person's strengths in effort to establish empowerment and hopefulness. Cognitive-behavioral and insight-
oriented therapy have proven to be very beneficial for assisting
clients to identify, establish and maintain positive changes.

Research substantiates that inner peace is increased when the physical, emotional,
spiritual and social functioning are in balance. Physical health is enhanced by learning
effective ways to release stress and reduce anxiety rather than internalizing it. I believe
that faith and spirituality are integral parts of an individual’s and a family’s resources for
healing and wellness. Relationships with self, friends, family members or coworkers are improved by using respectful methods of expressing thoughts and feelings.

I provide counseling to individuals and family members affected by bulimia, binge eating or compulsive overeating. Anxiety, depression, grief, loss, alcohol abuse or dependency, other addictions, and relationship problems will be addressed as needed.
